So, to start off; my project will be about student activism. Specifically I will be documenting a particular student who not only is a student activist, an active student socialist, sociology major, but who will be running for the presidency of BSU. I plan on documenting this journey in my documentary.
I can honestly say that this particular shoot seemed to be a lesson in DIY ethic. I say this because, in my time creating videos and such, I have always had a crew who can worry about the other aspects of shooting and obtaining footage because I was primarily concerned with the cinematography and writing of the treatment etc. With this shoot, I learned to be more prepared and organized this time.
Although the subject was seated in a place that was not visually stunning; what seems to be the most interesting is what he has to say; It is very interesting and very refreshing to find someone who is a fellow peer, trying to make a difference in his community and in the world.

McDonald's Crew Trainer!
The Crew Trainer position at McDonalds is a occupation in which one shows the rest of the crew how to implement new functions and ways to be efficient in the kitchen. According to simplyhired.com, the rate of pay is competitive and hours are flexible. People looking to apply to this job should have experience, as well as a knowledge of basic human relations skills. Crew trainers should also be able to effectively perform all crew functions.
Apart from the rudimentary description of what the job entails; from research on the internet and from William's interview, it seems that the position of a crew trainer is less than glamorous..
Welcome to Mcdonald's!
So, we already know that this economy is pretty crappy, and jobs are scarce in some areas. When we look at the job market, do we overlook such job opportunities as, say, a fast food restaurant?
Case in point:
Meet William Richardson. William is a University at Buffalo student majoring in Sociology. He also is the president of the USMA; The United Socialist Movement of America. William is a crew trainer at McDonalds. He has been working there for six years.
